FAQ’s

How are long distance moves priced?

Transportation charges for long distance moves are priced based on the weight of your shipment and the distance from your old home to your new home. Charges for packing, appliance servicing, shipping car(s), crating, storage and replacement coverage are all extra but will be shown separately on your move estimate if applicable.

Will my estimate be guaranteed?

As long as Coburn's has performed an in home survey and nothing has been added to your shipment or you have not requested a service that was not included in your original move quote, your estimate will be guaranteed within 10%.

What factors can affect the price of my move?

If you ship items that you told the Coburn’s Consultant you were not going to move or if you purchased new items after the in home survey was done.

Other factors may include:

Inaccessible pick up or delivery address. If the truck can’t fit due to overhanging wires, snow banks or blocked access, we will need to move things onto a smaller truck in order to pick up or deliver your shipment.

Are their hidden costs?

There are no hidden costs. Your Coburn Moving Consultant will explain each step of the move; what your responsibility is on the move and what Coburn’s and Atlas Van Line’s responsibilities are.

How long does it take for delivery to my new home?

A long distance trailer holds up to 35,000 lbs of furniture. Your delivery will be based on the weight of your shipment and the distance travelled. Your Driver will need time to load other shipments to fill out his trailer and time to drive to your new home. Once the estimated weight of your shipment has been determined, your Coburn Moving Consultant will provide you with information on delivery dates.

Is insurance included in my move?

Basic Transit Protection is included in the cost of your long distance move. If something is damaged, this coverage provides a maximum of 60 cents per pound coverage. Example: if a table is damaged and it weighs 20 lbs, the maximum settlement will be $12.00 (20 lbs X 60 cents =$12.00).

Replacement Cost Protection is available at an extra cost. Ask your Coburn Moving Consultant for more information and be sure to check with your home insurer to see if moving is covered under your policy.

How do I pay for my long distance move?

Payment must be by cash, certified cheque or money order or you can pay by VISA, Master Card or American Express. Payment must be given before the Driver unloads your shipment.

What if there is damage to my shipment?

Note the damage or loss on the Atlas Bill of Lading and notify your Atlas Destination Agent as soon as possible so they may start the settlement process.
